Overview

This certificate prepares students for entry-level work in precision machining and tooling. Coursework combines blueprint reading, CAD/CAM modelling and CNC programming with hands-on shop practice on industry-standard equipment, leading toward the 429A General Machinist Level 1 apprenticeship equivalency. Graduates are trained for roles such as general machinist, mould maker, or tool and die maker in aerospace, automotive, consumer-products, construction, forestry and pharmaceutical manufacturing across Southwestern Ontario. Students who complete the certificate are eligible for direct entry into the second year of related diploma programmes, including Mechanical Engineering Technician - Industrial and Mechanical Technician - CAD/CAM. The programme runs one year (two semesters) at the Main Windsor Campus with a September start and focuses on practical shop skills over classroom theory.
