Overview
The Appraisal Institute of Canada and UBC Real Estate Division are pleased to offer the Certificate Program in Residential Valuation leading to the Canadian Residential Appraiser (CRA) designation. The Certificate in Residential Valuation program is the primary means for AIC candidates to earn the CRA. Candidates with university degrees and who meet the program prerequisites are fast-tracked to the CRA designation. The Certificate also introduces a new elective course to help candidates target their employment goals.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: This UBC/AIC Certificate in Residential Valuation requires completion of a university degree from an accredited institution, together with BUSI 100 (Micro Foundations of Real Estate Economics) and BUSI 101 (Capital Markets and Real Estate), or their equivalents. Degrees from Canadian universities meet the standard admission requirement directly; other degree types and non-Canadian credentials undergo individual evaluation, and applicants whose degree is from a non-English-speaking institution must demonstrate English proficiency, though the page does not publish a specific test or score. Application Deadline:Domestic and international undergraduate applicants both apply through EducationPlannerBC for Winter Session 2027/28 (September 2027 entry) and Summer 2027: applications open in early October 2026 and the equal-consideration deadline is 15 January 2027, 11:59 p.m. PST, the same date for both groups; a few programs keep reviewing late applications on a space-available basis afterwards. Earlier dates apply only to entrance-award consideration -- 15 November 2026 for the International Scholars Program and 1 December 2026 for Presidential/Centennial/Beyond Tomorrow scholars. Several limited-entry programmes -- Law, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing (advanced entry), Occupational/Physical Therapy, Social Work and Teacher Education -- set their own earlier deadlines from October 2026 through February 2027. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
