Program details
Overview
Dance is a joint program between The University of Winnipeg and The School of Contemporary Dancers offering intensive training in contemporary dance technique and performance alongside a liberal-arts curriculum. Courses at The School of Contemporary Dancers provide conservatory-style technical training, while University of Winnipeg courses in the Department of Theatre and Film build critical thinking, communication, and academic skills. Students gain performance experience each year through public series, special projects, and a tour of Winnipeg-area schools. The program leads to a Bachelor of Arts degree in three-year or Honours format with a Major in Dance. Admission requires acceptance to both institutions: applicants to The School of Contemporary Dancers audition and are expected to be at an intermediate level of training in classical ballet and/or contemporary dance, with placement in first or second year based on technique and performance level.
