Overview

The Entrepreneurial Skills 1 Certificate develops core knowledge in management, accounting and marketing. Students will acquire the essential skills needed to help your enterprise thrive. Designed for owner/operators with few employees.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: The Certificate in Entrepreneurial Skills, level 1, delivered through TRU Open Learning, states open admission: no grade, subject or GPA prerequisite is set on the programme page for enrolling in its courses. As with TRU's other Open Learning credentials, a minimum of six TRU credits (distance or on-campus) is required toward residency. The page does not state a standardised English-language test score, a portfolio, an interview or a work-experience requirement; applicants who have not completed a recognised secondary curriculum, transferable post-secondary credits, or do not otherwise meet mature-student status would still need to satisfy Thompson Rivers University's general undergraduate admission bases before the certificate's credits could count toward a further credential.

Application Details

Start Date: Ongoing
Application Deadline: Domestic applicants (Canadian citizens and permanent residents) apply directly to TRU: for the September (Fall) intake the deadline is 1 May, for January (Winter) it is 1 September, and for the May (Summer) intake it is 1 January; applications for most programs open 1 October, and a deadline falling on a weekend or statutory holiday moves to the next working day. International applicants follow the same intake structure with deadlines of 1 May (September), 1 October (January) and 1 February (May); TRU still reviews later applications where space remains, though high-volume programs can close early, so admission runs on a rolling basis around these published cut-offs for the 2027 entry cycle. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
