Overview

The Computing Science Diploma is about the application of computers to the solution of business-related problems. Your academic training will combine technical and computer skills with communication and business skills. Your Computing Science Diploma credits count towards completion of the Bachelor of Computing Science.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: The Computing Science Diploma requires a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent (mature-student status also qualifies), English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 with a minimum of 73% -- or equivalent completion of ESAL 0570 with ESAL 0580, or ENGL 0600 or ENGL 0601 -- and Foundations of Mathematics 12 or Pre-calculus 12 with a minimum C+ or equivalent. Applicants short of these prerequisites may still be admitted through TRU's Flexible Entry pathway and complete the missing courses within their first 24 to 30 credits. The programme page does not set its own international test score; Thompson Rivers University's English language proficiency requirements set IELTS 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0, or TOEFL iBT 88 with no section below 20, for direct entry into academic programmes. No portfolio, interview or work-experience condition is stated.

Application Details

Start Date: Intakes: September (Fall), January (Winter) and May (Summer), as listed on TRU's program page.
Application Deadline: No separate date is published for this program, so TRU's general undergraduate deadlines apply. Domestic applicants (Canadian citizens and permanent residents): 1 May for the September (Fall) intake; 1 September for the January (Winter) intake; 1 January for the May (Summer) intake. International applicants work to a separate published set, which differs for the winter and summer intakes: 1 May for September; 1 October for January; 1 February for May. Applications for most programs open 1 October. A deadline falling on a weekend or statutory holiday moves to the next working day, and TRU keeps accepting applications after the date where space remains, though high-volume programs can close early.
