Program details

Overview

This Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) program covers the design, construction, operation, and lifecycle management of infrastructure, beginning with general engineering fundamentals in calculus, physics, chemistry, and programming before moving into more specialized coursework. Students can pursue streams in structural, environmental, or transportation engineering, and the program concludes with a fourth-year team-based capstone design project. It is offered full-time as a standard four-year program or a five-year stream incorporating an optional, paid co-op work term. Additional optional specializations are available in engineering innovation and entrepreneurship or management sciences, along with an accelerated pathway into a master's program. The program is accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board and describes coursework that uses current software tools and data-driven methods for infrastructure problems. Admission is grades-only, requiring a high average along with Ontario Grade 12 calculus, physics, advanced functions, and chemistry. The program suits students aiming at infrastructure-focused engineering roles such as consulting, structural, or transportation engineer, rather than a general engineering degree without a civil focus.

Requirements

Minimum GPA: 70.00 / %
Admission Requirements: Direct entry requires the OSSD with six Grade 12 U or M courses, including English (ENG4U/EAE4U preferred), Advanced Functions (MHF4U), Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U), Physics (SPH4U) and Chemistry (SCH4U), each at a minimum of 70%, with an overall average of at least 70% required for consideration; the programme's own page cites a typical admitting average of 90%+ in recent years, which fluctuates with application volume and available spaces. Applicants without Ontario schooling may be considered with the recognised equivalent, at TMU's discretion. The programme page defers to TMU's general admission requirements for English proficiency, which for most Engineering and Science programmes sets IELTS Academic 6.5 overall (no minimum band), TOEFL iBT 83, Duolingo English Test 120, PTE Academic 60 or CAEL 60.

Application Details

Application Deadline: Toronto Metropolitan University sets one guaranteed-consideration date for both domestic and international applicants applying for Fall 2027 entry: complete applications and amendments received by 1 February 2027 receive equal consideration for admission, and TMU says this same date applies to 'all domestic & international applicants.' Non-academic ('Grades-Plus') requirements are generally due around this point too, though the exact date varies by programme. For Winter 2027 (January-start) entry, TMU's program-status page gives domestic applicants a guaranteed-consideration date of 1 December 2026, with most programmes closing applications in mid-December; a limited number of programmes separately accept international applications for winter admission subject to space availability, but TMU publishes no fixed closing date for those international winter applicants. Admission is not rolling: late applications are considered only as space allows after the guaranteed-consideration date. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
