Program details

Overview

This Master of Science program offers research-focused graduate training in physics, with specializations available in biomedical physics, medical physics, or complex systems. The medical physics stream is CAMPEP-accredited, preparing graduates for clinical medical physics practice, while the biomedical physics and complex systems streams support research careers in biomedical technology and multidisciplinary physics research. Students conduct laboratory-based or computational research under faculty supervision, culminating in a thesis defense. The program also offers a PhD stream for students continuing to doctoral-level research. Coursework and research draw on modern, multidisciplinary applications of physics rather than a purely theoretical curriculum. Graduates are prepared for research careers, further doctoral study, roles in biomedical technology, or clinical medical physics practice, subject to the medical physics stream's accreditation requirements. The program suits students with an undergraduate physics or related science background seeking specialized, research-intensive graduate training in an applied physics field, rather than a general physics degree.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission requires a four-year undergraduate (or equivalent) bachelor's degree, with a minimum grade average of B/3.0 (on a 4.33 scale) in the last two years of study; some graduate programs require a higher minimum average, so applicants should confirm current program-specific requirements before applying. English language proficiency (where required) must meet the general graduate minimum: IELTS Academic 7.0, TOEFL iBT 93, CAEL 70, PTE Academic 63, or Duolingo English Test 130.
