The Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Medical Radiation Physics is a thesis-based, research-intensive program offered by the Medical Physics Unit in McGill University's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Students gain foundational knowledge of medical physics alongside mandatory laboratory work in radiation oncology, radiology, and nuclear medicine, and complete a thesis on a medical physics topic. The program is part of the Medical Physics Research Training Network supported by NSERC's Collaborative Research and Training Experience program, and is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs. It is co-sponsored by organizations including the American Association of Physicists in Medicine, the American College of Radiology, the American Society for Radiation Oncology, the Canadian Organization of Medical Physicists, and the Radiological Society of North America. Graduates enter clinical physics roles at the M.Sc. level or continue to a Ph.D. in medical physics. Admission requires an eligible bachelor's degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0, plus English-language proficiency. The program admits students in the Fall term.
