Overview

The Bachelor of Translation (Accelerated Program) is a two-year, on-campus program at Universite de Moncton's Moncton campus, offered to students who already hold a first bachelor's degree in another field. Admission requires passing a department entrance examination confirming French proficiency at the FRAN2501 level and English proficiency at the ANGL1042 level. The 120-credit curriculum comprises 60 credits of foundation coursework, 57 credits in the major discipline of translation, and 3 credits in a related discipline. The program trains generalist translators equipped to move across specialized areas of professional translation, including administrative, commercial, economic, and technical translation, and introduces students to the related field of terminology. Teaching methods combine practical translation workshops with lecture-based theoretical courses, supported by learning activities such as text analysis, essays, and case reports. Optional workplace internships and partnership placements are available but not required. Graduates receive the B. Trad. degree and are prepared to work as professional translators or terminologists across a range of industry sectors.

Admission Requirements: Admission requires already holding a first bachelor's degree (other than a Bachelor of Translation) and demonstrating adequate command of French and English, confirmed through a Department of Translation and Languages entrance examination showing proficiency at least at the FRAN2501 level in French and the ANGL1042 level in English.
