This certificate provides multidisciplinary training in victimology, covering the genesis, development, and consequences of criminal victimization. Students build knowledge of the phenomenon of violence and its effects and learn to conduct intervention with victims of criminal acts. The 30-credit program is delivered full-time or part-time, with many courses offered evenings and weekends, across the Montreal, Laval, and Brossard campuses as well as online. It suits students and professionals working with, or intending to work with, victims of crime in criminal justice, social work, health, and community-service settings. The certificate can be completed on its own or combined with other certificates toward a bachelor's degree. Graduates gain the theoretical and practical grounding needed to support victims of criminal acts within intervention, justice, and social-service organizations.
