PhD in Doctorat en études anglaises

The Doctorat en etudes anglaises is a 90-credit research doctorate at Universite de Montreal, completed full-time or part-time within the Departement de litteratures et de langues du monde. The program consolidates advanced, specialized knowledge of English-language literature and prepares graduates for research careers or postsecondary teaching. Students pursue an individual research program under faculty supervision, working toward a doctoral thesis, with a thesis or dissertation pathway available depending on the research project. Admission is centred on the candidate's proposed research: applicants must secure a faculty member's agreement to direct their work before applying, and the file is evaluated primarily on the strength and feasibility of the research project rather than on coursework. New students are admitted in the fall and winter terms.
