Overview

This bachelor's degree prepares students to teach French at the secondary level in Quebec, leading to a teaching certificate from the province's Ministry of Education. The 120-credit, on-campus program develops competencies in educational intervention centred on students' learning processes, with an emphasis on differentiated pedagogy for students with learning difficulties, behavioural challenges, or physical or intellectual disabilities. Admission is offered each September. Entry is available through several routes: a Quebec DEC with a minimum R-score, a diploma from outside Quebec after at least 13 years of schooling, prior university study, or a mature-student route based on demonstrated college-level knowledge and relevant supervised experience. Non-native French speakers must document their French proficiency as part of the application.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Applicants may qualify through one of four bases. Quebec DEC holders need a minimum R-score of 24; those scoring 22 to 24 are invited to an interview. Applicants educated outside Quebec need a diploma granting access to higher education after at least 13 years of schooling with a minimum average of 12/20 (10 to 12/20 may be considered case by case). University-transfer applicants need at least 15 completed university credits with a cumulative average of at least 2.5 on a 4.3 scale, and must score at least 80% on a review of their academic file, a letter of intent, a curriculum vitae, and an interview. Mature-student applicants must demonstrate college-level knowledge in mathematics, French, and the humanities plus at least six months of supervised intervention experience, and score at least 80% on the same selection criteria. Non-native French speakers must document their French proficiency.
