This 30-credit undergraduate certificate builds foundational competencies in video game programming for entry into the digital industry, with emphasis on C++/C# programming and commercial game engines, version control systems, and standard development environments. Students develop object-oriented programming and software development skills alongside written and oral communication abilities, and gain understanding of video game industry practices. The programme includes multidisciplinary projects with digital design and 3D animation students, access to dedicated laboratories, and participation in industry "Game Jam" events. It is aimed at individuals with no prior computing experience as well as working professionals seeking to update their skills or reorient their careers, and its courses can be credited toward UQAC's Bachelor's in Video Game Development. The programme is delivered in person and admits students for the Fall and Winter terms.
