The Maîtrise en études et interventions régionales (MEIR) is a multidisciplinary second-cycle program drawing primarily on economics, geography, history, political science, and sociology, with optional coursework in ethics, management, and social work. This is the research (thesis) route of the program, a 45-credit track offered alongside a professional-intervention route and a separate fifteen-credit short program in regional studies. Students in the research route carry out a supervised research project examining regional development, dynamics, and interventions, culminating in a master's thesis. Optional coursework in ethics, management, and social work lets students tailor the program toward the regional-development questions most relevant to their research. The program is delivered on campus at the Saguenay campus, with admission in the fall and winter terms.
