This 45-credit Master of Education (M.Ed.) prepares candidates to teach French at the secondary level. The program combines graduate coursework in didactics and pedagogy with a supervised practicum or teaching internship, emphasizing reflective practice and professional competency development specific to secondary French instruction. Admission is offered once a year, in the fall term, and study can be completed full-time in two years (five trimesters) or part-time in three years (eight trimesters). Courses are offered evenings during the week, delivered partly in person and partly at a distance. Before completing the degree, students must pass a written French test with a diagnostic component and an oral communication assessment during their first year. The program targets holders of a bachelor's degree with substantial coursework in a discipline related to their chosen teaching concentration who wish to gain the pedagogical training and professional certification required to teach French at the secondary level in Quebec.
