Program details

Overview

This 45-credit Master of Arts is awarded by cumulation, combining a 30-credit diplome d'etudes superieures specialisees (DESS) in art with a 15-credit short programme or course package chosen from aesthetics, art history, cultural interpretation and mediation, artistic-practice studies, or a specialized teaching credential offered through partner institutions (UQAM, Universite de Sherbrooke, UQAT, UQAR). Rather than a stand-alone curriculum, the degree is conferred once a student completes an eligible DESS-plus-short-programme combination within ten years of starting the first component, and a cumulative average of at least 2.5 across both programmes is required for the master's degree to be conferred. Admission is sought for each component programme individually, on either a university or an experience basis, with official transcripts or a curriculum vitae and employment attestation submitted as applicable. The programme is based on the Trois-Rivieres campus and is not currently open to new applicants.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: There is no direct application to this master's degree: students are admitted to, and must complete within ten years, an eligible DESS-in-art plus short-programme combination, satisfying that component's own admission conditions on a university basis (official transcripts) or an experience basis (curriculum vitae and employment attestation). A cumulative average of at least 2.5 across the combined components is required for the master's degree to be conferred.
