This 30-credit undergraduate certificate at UQAT prepares students already working in, or intending to enter, the occupational health and safety field, building foundational knowledge, a preventive approach and intervention skills for identifying and eliminating workplace hazards individually and collectively. Admission is open to holders of a Quebec college diploma (DEC) or equivalent, with six optional credits recognized for DEC holders in environment, hygiene and industrial safety programs; applicants may also qualify by completing the microprogram in occupational health and safety (psychosocial dimensions, 9273) or, from age 21, through relevant experience. Core courses cover industrial safety, OHS legislation, work hygiene, ergonomics, industrial toxicology and the psychosocial dimensions of OHS, followed by a preventive-approach course and 3-9 elective credits in intervention projects, plus up to 6 optional credits from business, health or human-resources subjects. All courses are available through UQAT's online learning environment, with some also offered in-class depending on campus schedule.

Experience basis: be at least 21 with appropriate knowledge and relevant experience.
