This graduate diploma specializes practising mining engineers in a topic related to the mining industry through an applied, employer-sponsored project rather than coursework alone. The 30-credit program centres on a four-part applied project (methodology, then Project I through IV) supported by a six-credit project report, completed under the guidance of a chosen research director; nine elective credits are chosen from courses covering ore mineralogy, mine backfill, mineral flotation, mining environment and restoration, mine geotechnics, rock mechanics, hydrogeology, mine-effluent treatment, applied geophysics, mine-site restoration, 3D data processing, geological mapping, extractive metallurgy, mineral deposits and geoscience data analysis. Applicants must submit a one-to-two-page project description, an employer or sponsor commitment letter, and a letter of support from a university professor or other qualified referee.
