Overview

This bachelor's program prepares secondary school teachers of French as a first language. Students develop broad knowledge of the French language and of French and Quebec literature alongside the professional competencies needed to teach autonomously and integrate socially within a secondary school setting. The 120-credit curriculum combines disciplinary study of French language and literature with pedagogical theory and practice. The program includes supervised teaching practicums in secondary classrooms and is delivered through a combination of in-person, distance, and hybrid course formats. Admission is offered in the fall and winter terms, and the program is completed over four years of full-time study. Graduates receive a Bachelor of Education (B. Ens.) qualifying them to teach French language arts at the secondary level in Quebec.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Quebec applicants need a DEC (any program) and a minimum score of 60% on the TFLM test. Canadian applicants from outside Quebec need a secondary diploma, one year of university study, and a minimum TFLM score of 60%. International applicants need 13 years of pre-university education, or equivalent, and a minimum TFLM score of 60%.
