It complements a teaching credential earned in another discipline by developing pedagogical knowledge specific to second-language instruction. Students choose a concentration in French, English, or Spanish as a second language and study teaching methods appropriate to that language, with an option to take part in a second-language teaching project. Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants need a DEC (Quebec), a secondary diploma plus one year of university study (elsewhere in Canada), or at least 13 years of pre-university education (outside Canada). All applicants must pass the French test (TFLM), with minimum scores varying by concentration. Candidates for the English or Spanish concentrations must also pass a standardized placement test in that language: the Versant English Placement Test for English, or the Test d'espagnol langue etrangere for Spanish. Remedial French courses may be required depending on test results.
