Overview
This certificate in Computer Science provides supplementary training in computing for people who already hold a university credential in another discipline or have confirmed work experience, covering the principal concepts and methods of computer systems and software with an emphasis on practical application. Students develop analytical capabilities and learn data management, system implementation, and organizational IT management, choosing between a general pathway and four areas of specialization such as programming, networks, or systems analysis. The 30-credit programme is designed to be completed in one year of full-time study, though students may also progress part-time at their own pace, with individual courses offered in-person, at a distance, or in hybrid format. Admission is offered for the Fall and Winter terms.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Quebec applicants need any DEC with successful completion of secondary-level mathematics (courses 526, 536, or equivalent) or college-level mathematics (courses such as 300, 302, or 360-300); a transcript is required only for secondary-level courses. Applicants from elsewhere in Canada need a secondary school diploma plus one year of university study with a satisfactory mathematics background; prerequisite courses may be required after file review. International applicants need 13 years of pre-university education, or 12 years plus one year of higher education with a satisfactory mathematics background, and 12-year diploma holders must complete a preparatory science pathway. Non-francophone applicants must score at least 361/699 on the mandatory sections of the Test de connaissance du français (TCF tout public) and at least 8/20 on the written expression component.
