This is Universite Laval's Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) programme, a first-entry medical degree providing the foundational training common to all family medicine and specialist physicians, with curriculum adapted to regional needs. Teaching is offered at three sites: Quebec City, Levis, and Rimouski. The programme is estimated at four to five years of full-time study, comprising a preclinical phase of two to three years followed by a clinical phase of approximately two years. Admission is open to CEGEP graduates holding a DEC in Natural Sciences with completed biology and chemistry courses, to International Baccalaureate holders, and to other pre-university credential holders who meet the required science coursework in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology. All candidates must sit the Casper situational judgment test, administered in French, and meet minimum performance thresholds that vary by admission category.
