This major builds a structured foundation in linguistics while allowing specialization in second-language teaching (English), translation, or writing. Students acquire comprehensive knowledge of core linguistic concepts alongside advanced proficiency in English or Spanish as a second language. The programme is a 60-credit undergraduate major, equivalent to about twenty 3-credit courses, delivered 100% online through Universite TELUQ, Quebec's distance-education university, allowing self-paced study without fixed classroom schedules and admission on a rolling basis rather than fixed intake dates. It combines linguistics theory with applied language specialization tracks, preparing graduates for roles in language teaching, translation, or editing. Coursework covers structural and applied linguistics alongside language-specific modules chosen according to the student's specialization. As with all TELUQ programmes, admission and course delivery are entirely remote, and students progress through readings, assignments and tutor support rather than in-person lectures.
