Program details

Overview

This undergraduate certificate develops linguistic and cultural competence in Spanish for professional application. The 30-credit programme combines a 12-credit language component of four required courses with an 18-credit specialized-training component of six required courses covering the languages and cultures of Hispanic countries. Students build practical Spanish-language skills alongside cultural knowledge and can work toward specialized competencies such as language teaching or translation. Delivery is entirely at a distance through Université TÉLUQ, Quebec's dedicated distance-education university, letting students progress at their own pace without a fixed campus schedule. The certificate can stand alone or contribute credits toward a related TÉLUQ bachelor's degree, and suits learners seeking applied Spanish-language and Hispanic-culture skills for professional or personal development.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission requires one of three conditions: a Québec diploma of college studies (DEC) or equivalent; being at least 21 years old with appropriate knowledge and relevant experience; or holding a university diploma. Applicants must also demonstrate intermediate-level proficiency in Spanish (Intermediate II), attested by the Université TÉLUQ Spanish test or successful completion of course ESP 2001.
