Overview
This certificate provides intermediate-level knowledge across the main domains of accounting practice: financial reporting, management accounting, strategy and governance, internal control, audit, and finance and taxation. It trains accountants with abilities spanning these different areas of professional practice, building on introductory accounting and business coursework rather than serving as a first entry point into the field. The 30-credit undergraduate programme, equivalent to about ten 3-credit courses, is delivered 100% online through Universite TELUQ, Quebec's distance-education university, allowing self-paced study through readings, assignments and tutor support rather than in-person lectures, with admission on a rolling basis rather than fixed intake dates. Applicants must have already completed four specific prerequisite courses in finance and accounting before entry, and the credential is positioned as a progression step for students who already hold introductory standing in accounting or business administration.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission requires one of three conditions: holding a certificate in general accounting or administration; holding a bachelor's degree in business administration with a minimum cumulative average of 2.3 on a 4.3 scale; or being at least 21 years old with at least five years' full-time work experience in business administration. Applicants must also have passed the courses FIN 1020, SCO 1060, SCO 1205 and SCO 2001, and written French must be mastered, attested by the Universite TELUQ written French test or a recognized equivalent.
