Overview

This graduate diploma prepares practicing teachers to instruct French as a second language at the elementary or secondary level. Delivered entirely online over 30 credits on a part-time basis, the program develops essential knowledge in teaching and pedagogy specific to second-language instruction. Students build professional competencies grounded in their own teaching experience, systematically analyze their classroom practice, and reflect on their methods while engaging in ongoing professional development. Coursework emphasizes evidence-based pedagogical strategies to support quality French-as-a-second-language instruction. The program is restricted to candidates already employed in teaching roles, combining academic study with applied classroom practice. Admission is offered for the fall and winter terms only, with courses delivered fully at a distance so students can continue working while completing the credential alongside their teaching duties.
