Mathematics and Philosophy is an Honours Bachelor of Science Specialist program in the Faculty of Arts & Science at the University of Toronto's St. George campus, directed toward students interested in the confluence of mathematical and philosophical precision. It is an open-enrolment program: a student may enrol once they have completed 4.0 credits, typically after first-year analysis, algebra, and introductory philosophy courses. The Specialist requires 12.0 credits, including at least 1.0 credit at the 400-level, across analysis and algebra course sequences, a philosophy-of-science course, further philosophy studies (1.0 credit in history of philosophy, 1.0 credit in logic, 0.5 credit in politics and ethics, and 2.0 further philosophy credits), and further mathematics studies (topology, groups/rings/fields, and complex/real analysis courses, plus 2.0 further 300-level-or-above philosophy, applied mathematics, or mathematics credits). Students may complete the program through the optional Arts & Science Internship Program (ASIP) co-op stream. Admission from Ontario secondary school requires an OSSD with six Grade 12 4U/M courses, including English and Calculus & Vectors.
