Applied Mathematics is offered at the University of Toronto St. George campus by the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Arts & Science, leading to an Honours Bachelor of Science. The Specialist program (OUAC code TPG) is directed toward students aiming to pursue applied mathematical research, requiring 13.0 to 13.5 credits including at least 1.5 credits at the 400-level. Coursework spans analysis and algebra fundamentals, advanced ordinary differential equations, computer programming, probability and statistics, and higher studies in topology, algebra, partial differential equations, complex analysis, geometry, and advanced applied mathematics, alongside a 0.5-credit requirement in ethics and social responsibility and the research seminar MAT477H1. The program is open-enrolment: a student who has completed 4.0 credits may enrol, and students may apply to the optional Arts & Science Internship Program for a work-placement stream. Graduates are prepared for further study or careers in applied mathematical research and related quantitative fields.
