Overview
The Economics program at the University of Guelph provides in-depth study of economic theory and its application to business and economic trends at local, national, and global levels. Coursework draws on connections with finance, mathematics, statistics, business, political science, geography, and history, giving students a multidisciplinary foundation for analyzing economic issues. Students examine topics such as markets, policy, trade, and economic development, building analytical and quantitative skills applicable across the private and public sectors. The honours Economics program prepares graduates for management-track careers in business, finance, government, and policy analysis, as well as for graduate study in economics, business, law, and related fields. Students can combine Economics with a minor or a second major to broaden their academic focus.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission to the Economics program follows the University of Guelph's general Ontario Secondary School admission process: an applicant's admission average is calculated from their top six completed 4U/M (or equivalent) courses, including any courses required for the program. Cut-off averages vary by year based on application volume and space available, and Guelph publishes program-specific course and average guidance through its admission requirements search tool.
