The Doctor of Veterinary Science (DVSc) in Clinical Studies is a thesis-based graduate program combined with clinical training, completed in approximately 9 to 12 semesters (three to four years) full-time depending on the area of study. It provides advanced academic preparation combining clinical training and research, with specialization available in anesthesiology, cardiology, emergency and critical care, large and small animal internal medicine, large and small animal surgery, neurology, nutrition, oncology, and radiology. Students complete a qualifying examination and a research-based thesis. The program is delivered on-campus at the Ontario Veterinary College. Entry requires a completed Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree, and applicants must be eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Ontario. The program admits students in the Fall, Winter and Summer terms.
