Overview
This Bachelor of Environmental Science is an interdisciplinary program aimed at developing scientific solutions to environmental problems, building quantitative skills grounded in ecological, biological, agricultural, and chemical sciences. It is offered at Honours and Major levels, each requiring four years and one hundred twenty credit hours, a General level requiring three years and ninety credit hours, and a Minor requiring eighteen credit hours, all delivered at the Fort Garry campus; an optional cooperative education component is available to Honours and Major students. Students choose from thirteen focus areas, including natural resource management, conservation and biodiversity, environmental assessment, sustainable development, and wildlife management. Graduates become eligible for ECO Canada's Environmental Practitioner certification. Admission Requirements: Clayton H. Riddell Faculty of Environment, Earth, and Resources. Direct Entry (high school or fewer than 24 post-secondary credit hours) or Advanced Entry (24+ credit hours). This is a faculty-level requirement, not restated on the program page: direct entry (Environmental Science/Physical Geography category) needs English 40S, Pre-Calculus Mathematics 40S, Physics 40S, and one of Biology, Chemistry or Computer Science 40S, with a minimum 70% average and no less than 60% in each course. Advanced Entry requires a Cumulative GPA of 2.00 plus 12 specified credit hours meeting stated grade distributions.
