Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants apply to the Faculty of Science under the Physical, Earth, Math and Computer Sciences Group, which covers both Earth System Science and the Environment major offered through the Bieler School of Environment. Quebec CEGEP applicants need Biology I, Chemistry I and II, Math I, II and III, and Physics I, II and III from a previous DEC, or the equivalent New Science or Arts & Science DEC courses. Applicants presenting all prerequisites generally have an advantage, but a minimum of four prerequisites — Math I and II plus any two science prerequisites — is still considered, with missing courses added onto the McGill program. Applicants completing the Sciences, lettres et arts DEC are eligible for every B.Sc. program without prerequisite penalty, though missing coursework is completed at McGill. For September 2026 entry, McGill sets a minimum overall R-Score of 28.0 and a minimum core math/science R-Score of 28.0 for this group.
