This joint honours program, offered by the Department of Statistics and the Warren Centre for Actuarial Studies and Research, provides in-depth study of statistics and actuarial mathematics in a four-year, 120-credit-hour Bachelor of Science (Honours). Students enter the joint honours stream after completing 24 credit hours, with a required first-year foundation in statistics, economics, and mathematics courses. Later years build actuarial and statistical theory through designated actuarial science and finance courses. To continue in the program, students must maintain a Degree Grade Point Average of at least 3.00 and complete a minimum of nine credit hours in each Fall and Winter term. Graduation requires the same 3.00 DGPA together with a grade of C+ or better in a defined set of actuarial and finance courses, including ACT 2120, ACT 3130, ACT 4020, and FIN 2010, and a C or better in all remaining courses making up the degree. Offered by the Faculty of Science, the program prepares students for actuarial credentialing exams and careers in insurance, risk management, and financial analysis.
