The Master of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering is a jointly offered program of the University of Ottawa and Carleton University covering medical instrumentation, biomedical image processing, biomechanics and biomaterials, medical informatics and telemedicine. Students complete 27 course units, including a compulsory introduction to biomedical engineering course, 12 optional units in biomedical engineering, 3 elective graduate units, a seminar course, and a coursework or project option, finishing within two years of full-time study; part-time study is also available. Admission requires a bachelor's degree with a specialization or major, or the equivalent, in engineering, science, computer science or a related discipline, with a minimum admission average of 75% (B+), along with official transcripts and research documentation demonstrating good academic performance; applicants to the project option must identify a professor willing to supervise it. Applicants must be able to understand, speak and write fluently the language of instruction, English, with proof of linguistic proficiency required where applicable.
