Overview
This four-year Bachelor of Science in Data Science is offered collaboratively by the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. It combines mathematics, statistics, and computer science so students learn to explore, prepare, visualize, and model data, and to apply analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence techniques to draw conclusions from large data sets. Courses include data structures and abstractions, introduction to artificial intelligence, advanced algorithm design, database and information retrieval, and data mining. Teaching takes place on campus in smaller class sections, with the department describing close contact with faculty and hands-on project work as central to the format. It is described as the only undergraduate data science degree offered in Saskatchewan. The program suits students who want a quantitative, computing-heavy path into analytics rather than a purely mathematics or purely computer science degree. Employers named as hiring in this space include SGI, Farm Credit Canada, Deloitte, and SaskEnergy, and graduates are expected to develop problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills alongside technical training.

Admission Requirements: The data science page only says transfer applicants must meet 'the admission requirements for the Faculty of Science' and points to the general application guide; the specifics below are the Faculty of Science's Saskatchewan high-school pathway. The Science guide is explicit that its raised 80% average applies to Computer Science majors specifically, so data science is assessed on the standard Science track: Saskatchewan Secondary standing with English Language Arts 30, Pre-Calculus 30, and two of Biology 30, Calculus 30, Chemistry 30, Computer Science 30, Earth Science 30 or Physics 30, to a 70% average. Applicants missing one of the five subjects but averaging 70% on the remainder, or averaging 65-69.99% with all five present, are admitted as Science Qualifying students. International applicants must also meet English proficiency: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall (no band below 6.0), TOEFL iBT 83 (4.5 overall from 21 January 2026), PTE Academic 59, CAEL 60, or Duolingo 120.

Application Deadline:Domestic applicants to the University of Regina apply for Fall 2027 entry with a recommended early deadline of 15 March 2027 for best course selection and a final new-applicant deadline of 15 August 2027; Winter 2027-28 entry has an early deadline of 1 November 2026 and a final deadline of 15 December 2026, and Spring/Summer 2027 entry closes 15 April 2027. International (study-permit) applicants share the same final deadlines as domestic students for each term but have no separate early deadline. Numerous named programs, including Nursing, Social Work, Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work, Indigenous Fine Arts and Indigenous Education, carry their own earlier deadlines instead of the general dates. Admission is not described as rolling; late non-competitive applications are simply carried to the next term the program accepts. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
