Overview
The Bachelor of Regional and Community Planning (BRCP) program is [accredited](https://psb-planningcanada.ca/university-accreditation/) by the Canadian Institute of Planners, the Planning Institute of British Columbia and the Professional Standards Board for the Planning Profession in Canada. This program provides you with skills that can be applied to policy, community development, international development, environmental and natural resources, urban design, land use, and a variety of planning processes. The BRCP helps you understand the relationship between the built and natural environments, environmental sustainability, innovation, problem solving, research, and communication of ideas and results.
Developed as an integrated and interdisciplinary program, the BRCP builds connections between fields such as environmental studies, art, natural sciences, policy and law, urban design, history, and communications. The program also incorporates a regional focus by addressing the planning and development needs of the Fraser Valley, including growth and community development, affordable housing, community planning, Indigenous planning, climate change, land use planning and GIS, planning law, and communications.

Admission Requirements: UFV's own program page for the Bachelor of Regional and Community Planning (BRCP) states no admission requirements directly and instead links to the entrance requirements in the Academic Calendar. That calendar entry requires either B.C. secondary school graduation (or an out-of-province or out-of-country equivalent) with a minimum grade of C+ in English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 (English 12, English Literature 12, AP English, or IB English A also accepted), or university-entrance standing through prerequisites for ENGL 105 or CMNS 125 plus a minimum of 9 credits at the 100-level or above with a CGPA of at least 2.00, a two-year post-secondary diploma, or a bachelor's degree from a recognized institution. The calendar cites no IELTS/TOEFL-style score for domestic applicants meeting the English-12 route; international or non-BC-schooled applicants instead meet UFV's general Degree/diploma-level English standard of IELTS Academic 6.5 overall (minimum band 6.0), TOEFL iBT 88 (no section below 20), PTE 61 (60 in writing), or Duolingo 110, per UFV's admission requirements and UFV International pages. Admission to year 2 requires prerequisites to be met first; students must maintain a CGPA of at least 2.00 to remain in good standing.

Start Date:Three entry points a year - Fall (September to December), Winter (January to April) and Summer (May to August, run as two sessions of May-June and July-August). UFV's programme list shows this one admitting for all three.
Application Deadline:UFV publishes no closing date of its own for this programme - the Calendar entry points applicants at the institution-wide schedule instead of naming a deadline, so what follows is that schedule. DOMESTIC APPLICANTS: applications open 1 October for the Fall (September) intake, 1 May for the Winter (January) intake and 1 October for the Summer (May) intake. Apply as soon after the opening date as you can: UFV admits many programmes in application-date order, and it records that date only once the application, the fee and every document listed in the programme's Calendar entry have arrived. Grade 12 students may apply from 1 October of their graduating year and must send final grades with proof of graduation by 3 August. INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS: this programme accepts international students. UFV International runs its own windows - 1 October to 31 May for Fall, 1 May to 31 October for Winter, 1 October to 1 March for Summer - and confirms acceptances in the order applications arrive, so a programme can close early once it fills. Allow up to six weeks for a decision, and pay the tuition that confirms an offer by 1 May for Fall, 1 October for Winter or 15 February for Summer.
