Overview
The Social Innovation Certificate empowers you to become a changemaker—someone who takes informed, intentional action to create positive cultural, social, environmental, or economic change. You’ll gain the tools and mindset to tackle complex challenges using creative, inclusive, and practical approaches.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission follows one of two academic routes set on the programme page, alongside UFV's Entry-level English language proficiency requirement (met by IELTS Academic 6.0 with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 80 with no section below 19, PTE Academic 56 with 52 in writing, or Duolingo 100). Secondary-school applicants need B.C. graduation or equivalent, or a minimum age of 19 before the first day of classes. Post-secondary applicants need one of: nine credits at the 100-level or above with a cumulative GPA of 2.00, a two-year-plus career/technical diploma with a 2.50 GPA, or a bachelor's degree with a 2.00 GPA. All applicants must otherwise satisfy the individual course prerequisites and submit official transcripts from every post-secondary institution attended. The certificate is open to international students; current UFV students declare it through Academic Advising.

Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply directly to UFV: applications for Fall (September) 2027 entry open 1 October 2026, for Winter (January) 2027 entry opened 1 May 2026, and for Summer (May) 2027 entry open 1 October 2026; UFV publishes no closing date for any of these and instead admits many programmes strictly in application-date order once every required document has arrived, so applying soon after opening matters more than any deadline. Grade 12 students may apply from 1 October of their graduating year and must send final transcripts by 3 August. International applicants use UFV International's own windows - 1 October to 31 May for Fall, 1 May to 31 October for Winter and 1 October to 1 March for Summer - and are likewise assessed on a rolling, first-arrived basis until each programme fills. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
