Art History & Visual Culture (HBA) is a four-year honours undergraduate program at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC), delivered on campus and available as a Major (approximately half of program credits) or a Minor (approximately a quarter of program credits). The program is interdisciplinary, covering the study of visual materials produced across different time periods, cultures, and geographic regions. Coursework begins with the first-year course Ways of Seeing: Introduction to Art Histories and continues through historical studies spanning the Medieval to the Romanesque periods, alongside courses on methodological concepts and art's relationship to everyday life. Learning is supported by field trips, guest speakers, and hands-on activities, and students develop skills in discussing visual media in gallery, museum, and urban settings. The program can be combined with other majors or minors across fields. Admission is processed under UTSC's OUAC code TUC.
