Program details

Overview

Art History (HBA) is an Honours Bachelor of Arts program offered at both the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM, Department of Visual Studies) and the St. George campus (Faculty of Arts & Science), each available as a Specialist, Major, or Minor. The program develops critical skills in interpreting visual imagery and understanding the significance of art across a range of cultures and historical periods, including the contemporary period. Courses span the history of art from the ancient to the contemporary world, with a focus on art from Europe, and include seminars such as Gothic Architecture, Society and Spectacle, and Women and Art in the Middle Ages. Students can take part in the Department of Visual Studies Student Society. The UTM offering is admitted under OUAC code TEV and the St. George offering under OUAC code TAH; because this record does not indicate which campus it represents, a single program code is not set here.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with six 4U/M-level courses including English (ENG4U or EAE4U). Grade 12 co-op course components are not used for admission.
