Art History is an undergraduate program offered by the Department of Art History and Art Conservation, leading to a Bachelor of Arts. Students build visual literacy skills in global arts, architecture, and culture while examining contemporary and historical problems in the visual art and museum sector from a range of interdisciplinary perspectives. Class sizes are typically small, allowing students to work closely with faculty across a broad spectrum of research and teaching areas. The program emphasizes experiential learning, including field trips to museums and galleries, hands-on study of artworks, and the use of analytical equipment to examine art. Students can also study internationally through the Venice Summer School and courses at the Bader International Study Centre at Herstmonceux Castle in England. The program prepares graduates for career paths in museums, galleries, higher education, the creative industries, and cultural policy.
