Hons in Environmental Management (HBA)

Environmental Management is offered at the University of Toronto Mississauga, leading to an Honours Bachelor of Arts, and is available as a Specialist, Major, or Minor. The program focuses on environment, society, and public policy, giving students the opportunity to develop specialized skills in resource management, environmental assessment, and the social, economic, and policy aspects of environmental change, built around the cornerstone course ENV201H5, which introduces the political and socioeconomic framework of environmental management. The Major requires 8.0 credits, including at least 2.0 at the 300/400-level, spanning a first-year foundation course (ENV100Y5) and a social-science elective, a second-year core of ENV201H5 and the paired Environmental Policy courses JPE251H5/JPE252H5 alongside science and quantitative-methods electives, and upper-year courses drawn from environmental management, social/economic/policy, scientific, and field/project-based perspectives. Enrolment in the Major is limited to students who have completed ENV100Y5 with a mark of 63% or higher. Graduates are prepared for careers or further study in environmental policy, planning, and resource management.
