Overview
Public Law at the University of Toronto Scarborough, housed in the Department of Political Science, examines how legal systems govern the relationship between different orders of government and between people and governments. The interdisciplinary Honours Bachelor of Arts program is intended for students interested in law and politics, covering constitutional foundations, the role of courts, the Canadian legal system in historical and international context, international law, and questions of rights and justice pursued through institutions and social movements. Students may pursue a Major, requiring 8.0 credits including foundational courses in law, justice and rights, methods courses, and applications courses, or a Minor requiring 4.0 credits. Current UTSC students may apply to the Major after completing 4.0 credits with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0; a CGPA below 2.0 places a student on probation. The program runs four years full-time, with Fall and Winter entry points.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with six subjects at the 4U/M level including Grade 12 English (ENG4U/EAE4U); the approximate competitive average is mid-70s overall with a minimum 70% in English. OUAC code TUD. Current UTSC students may apply to the Major after completing 4.0 credits with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0; a CGPA below 2.0 places a student on probation.
