The EdD in Social Justice Education is one of four degree programs, alongside the MA, MEd, and PhD, offered by the Department of Social Justice Education at OISE, University of Toronto. It is designed for those engaged in professional or voluntary practice at the interface of theory and practice in fields related to social justice, and lets students integrate doctoral-level study with ongoing social-change work and praxis. The program attracts teachers, school leaders, health and legal professionals, and others working in social justice education, and covers the social, historical, cultural, political, economic, and ethical contexts of education. Areas of study within the department include anti-racism and critical race theory, Indigenous studies, aesthetics, media and communication, and feminist and gender studies, framed around the department's central question of the relationship between education and society.
