Overview
Global Crime and Justice is a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) specialization offered within Ontario Tech University's Criminology and Justice program, in the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities. Delivered on campus at the Downtown Oshawa campus on a full-time basis, the specialization runs four years, or five years with the direct-entry co-op option, with a September start. It examines the foundations of historical and contemporary patterns of social control, focusing on the three main institutions of formal control: police, courts and corrections. Drawing on criminology, sociology, philosophy, psychology and law, students analyze why people commit crimes and how societies define crime and criminality, while considering criminal justice administration through the lens of fairness, equity, peace and justice. A limited number of fourth-year students can complete a 100-hour practicum with a community organization. The co-op option provides full-time paid work terms throughout the degree. The specialization can also be taken with the standalone Criminology and Justice program.

Admission Requirements: Current Ontario secondary school students must complete the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with six 4U or 4M courses, including English (ENG4U).
