Overview

Peace and Conflict Studies is an Honours Bachelor of Arts major at the University of Waterloo, offered as Honours Arts or combined Honours Arts and Business. The programme examines systems of violence and conflict and prepares students to work toward peace with justice, developing nonviolent conflict resolution skills alongside diverse perspectives on what produces and sustains conflict, violence and healthy societies. The major is available with an optional co-op work-term sequence, extending the four-year honours degree to five years when co-op terms are included. Ontario secondary school applicants apply through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre, requiring six Grade 12 U or M courses including a Grade 12 U English course with a minimum final grade of 70%; the competitive admission average for recent cycles has been in the high 70s. The programme admits students starting in the September term.
