Overview
The Master of Science in Chemistry (Nanotechnology) is a collaborative graduate program at the University of Waterloo that combines chemistry research with nanotechnology, drawing on faculty from Engineering and Science. Coursework and thesis research span nanomaterials, nanoelectronics design and fabrication, nano-instruments and devices, and nanobiosystems, alongside the department's standard chemistry graduate curriculum. Students complete an original research thesis under a Chemistry faculty supervisor while engaging with Waterloo's cross-faculty nanotechnology research community. The degree is delivered on campus and is designed to be completed in 24 months of full-time study, with admission available in the Fall, Winter, and Spring terms. It prepares graduates for further doctoral research or for technical and research roles in nanotechnology-related industry sectors, building on Waterloo's shared nanotechnology research infrastructure and its combined Engineering and Science expertise in the field.
