Overview
The Master of Applied Science (MASc) in Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry is a research-based graduate program offered by the Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry at the University of Toronto, intended as a stepping stone to doctoral study or a research career in industry or academia. Admission requires a four-year degree (or equivalent) in engineering or the physical, chemical or biological sciences. The standard full-time sequence runs six sessions (two years), with a typical Fall-Winter-Summer, Fall-Winter-Summer registration pattern and a three-year full-time completion limit. Students complete 1.5 full-course equivalents (three graduate half courses), including one course chosen outside their own research area, plus required courses and the seminar course JDE1000H. Alongside coursework, students carry out original research culminating in a thesis, with a minimum full-time residency of two sessions (eight months). The program is delivered in person on the University of Toronto's St. George campus.
