Overview
The Master of Science (MSc) in Chemistry is a research-based graduate program in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Toronto, building research competence and background knowledge for doctoral study or a scientific career. Faculty offer research and training across analytical, environmental, inorganic, organic, biological, physical and polymer/materials chemistry. Admission requires an appropriate bachelor's degree from a recognized university with an average equivalent to at least a University of Toronto B+; IELTS or TOEFL is required for applicants coming from outside North America. The standard full-time program runs three sessions (one year), with a three-year full-time completion limit. Students complete 1.0 graduate full-course equivalent, including at least 0.5 FCE in chemistry, take the CHM3000H module in Year 1, attend and present at the department's mandatory seminar program, and submit a thesis. Students are guaranteed graduate funding through a combination of research assistantships, teaching assistantships and fellowship support. The program is delivered in person on the St. George campus.
