Visual Arts & the Built Environment is a four-year Honours joint program between the University of Windsor and the University of Detroit Mercy (UDM), leading to a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from the University of Windsor and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from UDM. The curriculum combines visual arts and architecture education, with roughly 1,800 hours of studio time per year and more than 60% of course time spent in studios, supplemented by hands-on internships and projects for non-profit organizations. Because the program involves regular study across the Windsor and Detroit campuses, it is open only to Canadian citizens who are legally permitted to commute to the United States; the university states international students must also be Canadian citizens to take part. The program prepares graduates for combined careers spanning visual arts and architecture-related fields.
