Overview
Dental Assisting – Certified (Online) allows students to earn a dental assisting certificate while working in a dental office, combining online theoretical coursework with clinical practice. Graduates learn patient-centred dental care, evidence-based practice, treatment assessment and planning, and the ethical guidelines and professional standards of licensed dental assisting. The programme is delivered part-time online with asynchronous theory courses, supplemented by three in-person clinical sessions of five, three, and ten days at VCC's downtown campus. Students must have a signed Sponsoring Dentist Agreement guaranteeing a minimum of two days (14 hours) per week of clinical dental assisting experience, along with a criminal record check, valid First Aid/CPR-C certification, a negative TB screening within six months, and current immunization records.
